Synchronized Synergistic Therapy

An integrative trauma therapy approach

Monstera Leaf Closeup

Synchronized Synergistic Therapy® (SST) is an integrative trauma therapy approach that combines psychotherapy with body-based care in a coordinated session. A licensed therapist and licensed somatic practitioner work together so emotional processing and nervous system regulation can happen at the same time.

This approach helps address how trauma and chronic stress are held not only in thoughts and memories, but also in the body and nervous system. By working with both the mind and body simultaneously, SST can support deeper healing than talk therapy alone.

FAQs

What is Synchronized Synergistic Therapy (SST)?

Synchronized Synergistic Therapy® (SST) is an integrative trauma therapy approach that combines traditional psychotherapy with somatic or body-based care. During a session, a therapist and licensed somatic practitioner work together so emotional processing and nervous system regulation can happen simultaneously.

How is SST different from traditional talk therapy?

Traditional therapy focuses primarily on thoughts, emotions, and insight. SST also works with how trauma and stress are stored in the body and nervous system. By combining psychotherapy with somatic care, SST can help address patterns that may not fully shift through insight alone.

What types of body-based approaches may be used in SST?

Depending on the practitioner and setting, SST sessions may incorporate approaches such as massage therapy, acupuncture, neurofeedback, breathwork, or other forms of somatic support designed to help regulate the nervous system.

Who might benefit from Synchronized Synergistic Therapy?

SST may be helpful for people experiencing:

  • Trauma or unresolved childhood experiences

  • High levels of dissociation (e.g. derealization or depersonalization)

  • Chronic anxiety or nervous system dysregulation

  • Emotional overwhelm or shutdown

  • Long-standing relational patterns

  • Feeling stuck despite prior therapy

Can SST be combined with other trauma therapies?

Yes. SST can be integrated with other trauma-informed approaches such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) or nervous system interventions like the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) to support deeper healing.
